FUMESCANS – Snowball Earth has reached an important milestone just as its story approaches its conclusion. Creator Yuhiro Tsujitsugu announced that the science-fiction manga has surpassed one million copies in circulation, while also confirming that the series has officially entered its final arc. The announcement was shared on September 24, 2026, accompanied by a commemorative illustration for readers.

The timing of the announcement makes the achievement even more notable, as the manga is entering its concluding stage while its anime adaptation continues to expand the franchise's audience. The series originally began serialization in Shogakukan's Monthly Spirits in 2021, and its 12th collected volume is scheduled to be released in Japan on September 30.

The manga follows Tetsuo Yabusame, a young pilot whose partner is the enormous robot Yukio. The two once fought against gigantic extraterrestrial creatures threatening humanity. After the decisive battle, Tetsuo eventually returns to Earth only to discover that the planet has been transformed into a vast frozen wasteland.

Surrounded by snow and ice and confronted with an unfamiliar world, Tetsuo begins searching for answers while carrying the promise he made to Yukio. The combination of giant robots, monsters and post-apocalyptic exploration gives the series its distinctive science-fiction adventure setting.

Tsujitsugu's confirmation that the manga has entered its final arc means that the long-running mysteries surrounding Tetsuo, Yukio and the transformed Earth are now moving toward their resolution. The exact length of the concluding portion has not been disclosed, so readers will have to wait for future chapters to learn how long the final storyline will continue.

The upcoming 12th volume will also give readers another opportunity to follow the story as it approaches its climax. Meanwhile, the English edition is being released by VIZ, with the 10th volume scheduled for December 15.

The manga's milestone arrives during an important period for Snowball Earth beyond the printed format. The television anime began airing in Japan on April 3, 2026, with Studio KAI handling animation production and Munehisa Sakai serving as director.

The anime's first season has already concluded, and a second season has been confirmed, giving the franchise another avenue to introduce Tetsuo's story to a wider audience. The existence of a confirmed continuation also means viewers can look forward to more of the frozen world and its characters while the original manga moves toward its ending.

With more than one million copies now in circulation, Snowball Earth has established itself as a notable title within the modern science-fiction manga landscape. Its combination of kaiju-style threats, giant robots and a frozen post-apocalyptic setting separates it from more conventional adventure stories.
