FUMESCANS – The 2026 Next Manga Awards have revealed the titles that captured the most attention from readers, with Someone Hertz and Home at the Horizon emerging as the winners of their respective categories. The results highlight two relatively new series that have quickly built a following through different approaches to youth-oriented storytelling.

In the print manga category, Someone Hertz claimed the top position. Created by Yamano Ei, the series is published in Weekly Shonen Jump and is also available digitally. English-speaking readers can follow the manga through MangaPlus, giving the series an international audience alongside its Japanese readership.

The story centers on high school students Mimei Fukumori and Kurage Mizuo, who share an interest in a comedy radio program called Monday Midnight Talking. Both girls regularly send jokes to the show, although Kurage has considerably more success getting her submissions featured. Their shared hobby gradually becomes the foundation for a closer relationship between the two characters.

Someone Hertz began its serialization on September 14, 2025, meaning it had been running for roughly a year when the 2026 awards were announced. The series is scheduled to reach its 50th chapter on September 27, 2026.

Meanwhile, the web manga category went to Home at the Horizon, a series published through Shonen Jump+. The story follows Ryoma Kakiuchi and Reo Shibasaki, two young men whose lives become intertwined after they discover that they share the same father.

Their relationship develops after Reo moves in with Ryoma at their grandfather's home and begins working at the family's bathhouse. Reo originally arrives while searching for his father, Tatsuomi, but his circumstances eventually lead to a much deeper connection between the two characters.
