I Love Amy Manhwa Reveals All the Trauma Leading Up to the Climax
FUME SCANS - While the manhwa I Love Amy may feature some comedic elements, author UNNI explores some very dark territory throughout the story. The third volume, in particular, seems designed to help several characters process their trauma before the narrative reaches its conclusion—and, commendably, none of this feels rushed.
The first two volumes effectively introduce Amy Lee and Bibi Reden, tracing the evolution of their relationship.
The story places a strong emphasis on how each character’s past has shaped who they are today, while offering them—and the reader—a glimmer of hope for future happiness.
(Minor spoilers for the manhwa I Love Amy follow.)
❖❖ : Discussion of BL Manhwa Peace of God Chapter 28 English Subtitle, A New Tactic!
To recap, the first two volumes of I Love Amy center on Bibi, who develops an obsessive crush on a boy at her school named Peter after he offers her some help.
Peter notices Bibi spending time with Amy and approaches her; initially, Bibi views Amy as a rival and even considers getting rid of her. Instead, however, she decides to make Amy her "ally" in winning Peter over.
Amy, for her part, seems to enjoy Bibi’s company—finding her quite beautiful—and the two eventually strike up a genuine rapport, even though Amy is fully aware of just how toxic Bibi can be.
This is where we find things at the start of the third volume. Amy reconciles with Camilla, revealing to the reader that the conflict between them stemmed from the trauma Amy experienced following a major incident involving her mother—the very reason she ended up living with her aunt.
Yet, even as this issue is resolved, it becomes clear that Amy is still deeply affected by her past, and a new complication arises: Peter invites someone other than Bibi to the prom, and Bibi witnesses it.
This development serves as the catalyst that drives the story toward its climax and conclusion. As Bibi grapples with this realization and begins plotting her "revenge" against Peter, she comes to terms with her true feelings for Amy.
She begins to confront some of the trauma from her past, as well as the desperate search for connection that fueled her entirely irrational—and frightening—behavior. This leads her to a realization regarding her own feelings for Amy.
Meanwhile, Amy finds herself in a situation mirroring the one she once experienced with Camilla; her past and her PTSD resurface, seemingly setting the stage for the same kinds of challenges and obstacles she faced before.
Of course, it is already clear that Bibi is a very different person from Camilla. The first two volumes have already demonstrated just how dangerous she can be when rejected—avoiding her is simply not an option.
And while this is undeniably a negative trait, the nature of UNNI’s storytelling and the way the narrative is handled propel the plot forward in a logical manner, potentially offering a resolution that could be—in a certain sense—happy!

Or, at the very least, it may conclude with Amy finally confronting the trauma that has lingered since the major incident involving her mother. (Or, as "happy" as things can possibly be, given the circumstances.)
I Love Amy certainly does not shy away from the traumatic backgrounds of both Amy and Bibi as it heads into the third volume, laying the groundwork for the final arc. The story is dark! Both girls have endured horrific experiences that have shaped them forever.
I even wonder if the path Amy has chosen is, in some ways, a direct consequence of her PTSD and her past relationships.
Observing their dynamic—and the unsettling behavior Bibi exhibits when faced with the climactic challenges that define the end of the series—leaves the reader feeling as though they are witnessing a situation that could be happy, yet perhaps also fundamentally unhealthy.
Volumes 1–3 of the I Love Amy manhwa are available through Yen Press, with volume 4 scheduled for release on December 8, 2026.
