FUME SCANS - Phantom Blade Zero has emerged as one of the most anticipated action games for October 2026, securing a spot among the top 10 most popular upcoming titles on Steam ahead of its scheduled launch on October 28.

Developed and published by the Beijing-based studio S-GAME, this dark fantasy action RPG blends Chinese Wuxia influences with intricate, weapon-based combat—a style likely to appeal to fans of Devil May Cry and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

The game’s position on Steam’s "Popular Upcoming Games" list signals strong pre-launch interest. S-GAME previously reported that over three million players have added the title to their wishlists across various digital storefronts.

PHANTOM BLADE ZERO JOINS THE RANKS OF STEAM’S MOST WANTED GAMES

As of October 18, Phantom Blade Zero has appeared among Steam’s top 10 most popular upcoming games, alongside major releases such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4.

This ranking reflects significant attention from Steam users, though it does not reveal the exact total number of wishlists or predict the game’s future commercial performance.

This achievement is particularly noteworthy for S-GAME’s action RPG, which enters a crowded release window alongside established franchises and high-profile titles. Its unique combination of Chinese fantasy, cinematic martial arts, and challenging combat has helped it stand out from the pack of upcoming releases.

Although it has been compared to "Soulslike" games, the developers have indicated that Phantom Blade Zero will offer multiple difficulty settings. This could make the combat more accessible to players who enjoy stylish action but prefer to avoid an excessively punishing difficulty level.

At the heart of the Phantom Blade Zero story is Soul, a warrior framed for the murder of his master, who has only 66 days left to live after sustaining severe injuries. He must unravel a conspiracy surrounding him while navigating a perilous world filled with assassins, rival warriors, and formidable foes.

The game blends traditional Wuxia storytelling with dark fantasy and fast-paced martial arts. Players can utilize over 30 weapons and 20 "Phantom Edges," offering a wide range of combat options as they progress through the Phantom World.

Built using Unreal Engine 5, the game supports ray tracing to enhance lighting, shadows, and reflections. According to a report by Game Rant, S-GAME also plans to support Nvidia DLSS upscaling, which can help players achieve smoother performance at higher resolutions on compatible hardware.

The game will include Denuvo anti-tamper technology at launch—a detail that may be of interest to PC players concerned about performance.

A recent Steam listing confirms that the game is coming to PC, with a release date set for October 28, 2026.

However, S-GAME’s official website and their published updates also mention October 29; therefore, readers should check the official Phantom Blade Zero website for the latest information regarding regional release dates.

With over three million wishlists reported across various storefronts—placing it among the most anticipated games on Steam—Phantom Blade Zero has already generated significant interest ahead of its launch.

Its ultimate reception will depend on how well its combat system, performance, and ambitious Wuxia setting come together once players are able to experience the full game.
