According to information from animecorner.me, the company's official BlizzCon recap also stated that the two companies are developing a “new animated series set in the world of Diablo,” adding that further information would be shared as production progresses.

The Diablo franchise is primarily set in Sanctuary, a world caught between the forces of the High Heavens and the Burning Hells. The original game launched in 1996, meaning 2026 marks the franchise's 30th anniversary. Blizzard states that over 130 million players worldwide have played games in the series.

The latest mainline entry, Diablo IV, launched in 2023 and continues to evolve through expansions and seasonal updates. Blizzard also used BlizzCon to reveal another major move for the franchise, officially announcing Diablo V for Spring 2029.

According to Blizzard, Diablo V will be set in a version of Sanctuary where Diablo has triumphed and the world's heroes have been defeated. The company described the premise by asking what players must do when the world has collapsed.
