FUME SCANS - Wandering Planet Toys has unveiled Showa WarLor, a new addition to the Planetoid Raiders action figure line inspired by the look and spirit of Japanese Showa-era tokusatsu, manga, anime, and toy culture.

Anime Corner had the exclusive opportunity to reveal the figure ahead of New York Comic Con 2026, coinciding with the launch of its Kickstarter campaign.

Showa WarLor reimagines the existing WarLor character with a new color scheme, a Japanese Planetoid Raiders logo, and fresh card-back artwork.

The figure pays homage to the era that birthed franchises and characters such as Godzilla, Ultraman, Kamen Rider, and Super Sentai, as well as the sofubi (soft vinyl) collectibles associated with Japanese monster and hero culture.

The launch also coincides with the centennial of the start of Japan's Showa era, which spanned from 1926 to 1989.

Wandering Planet Toys co-founder Chris “Doc” Wyatt commented:

“Beware, evildoers and toxic giant monsters—WarLor is going to grow to Kaiju size and kick you right back to Monster Island. SKREEONK!!!”

Co-founder Gavin Hignight added:

“It’s amazing. It’s as if a cosmic rift opened up—an alternate universe where this version of WarLor comes from! Already a mysterious character, we now discover a completely new and different existence (and paint job) for him! Is there any place or time this mystical space traveler hasn't visited? We hope he sparks as much excitement for other collectors as he does for us!”

Showa WarLor joins the broader Planetoid Raiders lineup, a series of retro-style, 1:18 scale figures featuring five points of articulation.

This series draws inspiration from 1978 Kenner Star Wars figures and Tomland Toys' Starroid Raiders, blending a vintage sci-fi toy aesthetic with original characters.

Other characters in the first wave include Captain Oton, Helmsman Ryot, Yogun, and WarLor, alongside additional figures revealed throughout the campaign.

The figures are available individually in retro-style carded packaging or as part of a metal lunchbox-style collector's set featuring artwork by Bill Rude.

Wandering Planet Toys is currently raising funds for Planetoid Raiders via Kickstarter, where Showa WarLor is available alongside other products ahead of New York Comic Con 2026.
