FUMESCANS – The legendary samurai anime Ninja Scroll is preparing for another theatrical appearance in North America, this time with an upgraded 4K presentation. Ahead of its limited cinema release, Anime Corner has unveiled an exclusive clip offering audiences a closer look at the restored version of the classic film.

The screenings are scheduled for October 4, 5, and 7, 2026. The special event is being organized by HIDIVE in collaboration with Iconic Events Releasing.

The movie will be shown at approximately 600 participating theaters across the United States and Canada, giving longtime admirers and newcomers an opportunity to experience the action on a cinema screen.

Audiences will have different viewing options depending on the screening date. The October 4 presentation will feature English subtitles, while the October 5 session will use the English-language dub. The October 7 encore will offer either version, depending on the participating theater.

The new presentation has undergone a detailed restoration process. Supervised by original writer and director Yoshiaki Kawajiri and produced by Sentai, the project began with a 4K scan of the original 35mm film negative at a resolution of 3840 × 2160 pixels.

Technicians then repaired damaged frames and adjusted the colors to create a refreshed digital master intended to preserve the film for future audiences. First released in 1993, Ninja Scroll was produced by Madhouse and became known for its samurai action, supernatural threats, and mature storytelling.

The narrative centers on Jubei, a skilled swordsman whose encounter with a young female ninja draws him into an investigation involving the mysterious deaths of an entire village.

As the investigation unfolds, Jubei and his companion discover a dangerous conspiracy involving powerful demonic enemies. Their search for answers becomes a fight for survival, as the forces behind the killings attempt to prevent them from uncovering the truth.

The 4K version previously received attention at the 76th Berlin International Film Festival, where the restored film had its world premiere. Its upcoming North American screenings offer another opportunity to see Kawajiri's work with enhanced image quality while retaining the original film's visual identity.
